Urgent Care Center Celebrates 30 Years of Caring for Berkeley Heights Residents

Berkeley Heights, N.J., April 1, 2017 – Her daughter’s fever spiked at 7 p.m. A father cut himself while trimming the hedges on Saturday. A teen needed a physical to join the basketball team and his mother didn’t have time to wait for an appointment. A grocery store worker cuts his finger on a blade while slicing meat at the deli counter.

Its reasons like these and more that Berkeley Heights families have been turning to eMedical Urgent Care, located at 369 Springfield Avenue, for 30 years. While our name (formerly EMO), d├ęcor and services have changed through the years, the commitment to patient excellence remains constant. In May 2014, we completed a $500,000 renovation which now boasts a state of the art facility equipped with specialized exam rooms for pediatric patients and those with autism and those with wheel chairs and other mobility aids.

“Our support staff of nurses, X-ray technicians, paramedics and receptionists has a combined 125 years of experience in the office, and three-quarters of our physicians have been here for the better part of a decade,” explains Linda Balling, the practice manager. In fact, Balling, who is a registered nurse and licensed x-ray technician, has been serving patients at eMedical Urgent Care since it opened in 1987.

The center provides complete urgent care, lab services, digital X-rays and more, delivered by board-certified emergency medicine doctors and highly trained staff. Its state-of-the-art electronic medical record system means a patient’s treatment information can easily be sent to his or her primary doctor for follow-up care.

“eMedical Urgent Care has been a concept before its time,” explained Jane Sennett, the center’s medical director. “We began as an urgent care provider and evolved to provide primary care during the era of managed care. Now, we’re responding to our patients’ needs and returning to our urgent care roots. We support primary care doctors by providing back-up care to their patients after their normal office hours.”

“Urgent care centers are a great alternative to the ED. Care at our facility is provided by board-certified physicians, usually emergency or family medicine physicians. In addition, patient’s visit notes are sent to the primary care provider within 24 hours of the patient’s visit. Our goal is to have you seen and treated within 30 minutes,” said Patrice Cihak, Director of Operations.

Physicians diagnose and treat a variety of urgent conditions, including colds, coughs and sore throats; ear infections; nausea and vomiting; allergies and rashes; urinary tract infections; sprains and strains; cuts; and fractures. And, when patients require additional care, physicians can provide referrals to specialists, such as primary care physicians, orthopedists, allergists and ophthalmologists.

Our sister location in Middletown, NJ is open seven days a week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis without appointment, and with seven exam rooms, there’s rarely a wait. The center accepts most major insurance plans and offers an eCard Program – an affordable option for the uninsured.

To keep patients informed outside of the office, eMedical Urgent Care publishes a monthly blog at emedicalurgentcare.com/blog and shares health tips on its Facebook and Twitter pages. eMedical Urgent Care is located at 369 Springfield Avenue in Berkeley Heights. Office hours are seven days a week 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call 908.464.6700 or visit www.emedicalurgentcare.com.
